There are apps that can clear cache for all apps at once, or you can just select apps (Settings > Apps > All) and hit the "clear cache" button for each app that is caching a lot of data. Clearing app caches will free space temporarily, though they will tend to refill. You could easily have a couple of hundred MB of such files. * Many apps, especially browsers and social networking apps, will cache temporary files. If you can identify any large ones that you don't need, or where you wouldn't mind wiping the app's data, then that will free some space (but remember that stuff you wipe is really gone, so make sure you know what would be wiped). * You can look at your apps and see which are the largest, and which are storing the most data. Do not move any app if you use a widget from that app, since the widget will break the next time you restart the phone (apps which need to be started when the phone starts, including all widgets, need to be installed on the phone rather than SD). After years of adding features and whittling them back down, Messenger has achieved a happy medium. It had been integrated within the Facebook platform itself and developed in 2012 as a separate app.

Not all will allow you to, and this won't move app data, but it will free some space. Facebook Messenger for Windows is a free application available for download on any personal computer. Also all apps, user or system, keep their internal data in the same space, and some apps store a lot of data. This not only includes all apps that you installed yourself, but also updates to system apps (the system apps that come with the OS live in a different partition, but updates to then share space with your apps). If I recall correctly the S2 only gives you 2GB for apps and their data (which was actually a lot when it was released, but apps have got bigger since then!).
